Gay Transgender People

Posted April 19th, 2008 at 11:42am

I've never been really comfortable calling myself a lesbian. I'm women focused and I ID as a woman, but whether you think I'm truly a lesbian depends on what your view of what a woman actually is. I believe that humans are complex creatures that are as diverse as they are plentiful. The word woman is usually a socially constructed term, where as female is a biological sex descriptor. So in the socially constructed sense, I am gay.

I created the gay transgender group on here as a safe place to discuss the issues that affect gay transgender people most. Among some of the topics, being accepted in the greater gay community, dating, when to tell your date you're trans, etc. I hope that it grows and becomes a place to grow and learn from others.
