I'm a simple guy from Tennessee. I spent 20 years in the Air Force flying F-16s. Ten of those years were during Don't Ask Don't Tell. I received numerous awards during my 20 years including an Air Medal and the Bronze Star. What I've learned in the years since is that it's much more important to be open and honest with friends and family about who you are. Easy to say, harder to practice. But ultimately, what people know about gay and lesbians is because of people they know.
