Colleges and Universities

Hello! After realizing that I have more girl friends (that includes the lesbians) than guy friends, I find myself here. Only interested in making new friends (i.e., people I would genuinely enjoy seeing and talking to at all times of the day, not mere acquaintances or popularity indicators to pad my "friends" list here), and perhaps discover networking opportunities (acquaintances may apply under this category).

I am of Korean and American descent, raised mostly in Turkey, which makes for a culturally confusing upbringing. Because of my accent, many people can't place where I'm from. A typical dialogue in this venue usually goes like this: "I LOVE your accent! Are you British?' To which I reply "No, I'm GAY." I guess that could mean I have native-level fluency in Gaysian. And Turkish. And enough German to get me into trouble, but not out of it. :-)

Currently chasing my dream of entering the animation and video game industry. Just enrolled in a 2-year program in Graphic Arts, which I hope to transition into my dream career--there just aren't any good schools nearby in my price range. I work full-time and go to school at night. Used to be a mediocre student when I was muuuch younger, but have now become a full-blown nerd to the point where getting a 95 will annoy me to no end. (Nah, it annoys me for a minute at most. :-)

Have also lost 20 pounds and 4 pant sizes--my collection of suspenders has to be seen to be believed--since starting school in August 2007, through a combination of working out 3 times a week and reducing portions as opposed to skipping meals altogether. Get my cheap thrills by being carded wherever I go. (Don't earn enough to buy a new car, so I'm dealing with my impending midlife crisis by looking fabulous. And moisturizing.)

Actually started down this road due to being diagnosed with a ridiculously-high cholesterol level (over 400 back in 2004.) It runs in the family--yet another thing to blame on my parents. Now have a cholesterol level of 180 as of May 2008. It's not all healthy living, though. I take cholesterol pills to help, and more supplements than most senior citizens.

Quit smoking on the morning of Tuesday, May 6, 2008. Will probably be miserable for a while, give or take 5 years.

An agnostic since my late teens, I believe in a higher power, but not enough to fill the coffers of organized religion. This is as close to the top of the soapbox I'm willing to step on for initial introductions. Some of my best friends are into practicing one organized religion or another, so it's not like I'm on a crusade here. I am also shameless enough to practice every gift-giving occasion known to man (i.e., birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Administrative Professional's Day, days that end with the letter "y," etc.) Even better when I'm the recipient. In all seriousness, however, I believe that good things can only happen to you if you have been a good person, and vice versa. You reap what you sow.

Currently in a very satisfying long-term relationship (been together since November 11, 2000). He is the best thing to have ever happened to me. Think of every sappy, syrupy sentimental thing you've ever seen, and mix it up with friendship, patience, devotion, laughter, generosity, compassion and unconditional love, and you might come close to understanding what we have. If I could bottle it, I would rule the world. I hope everyone can find someone who consistently makes them feel this way.
