My name is Dale Sheldon, I am a historian of GLBT studies working hard to create a new non-profit corporation called The Sheldon Institute. The institute doesn't just study gay, lesbian and transgender history, but also brings that history to the general public to make it a part of our community. It seems that so many of us don't know our own history and the struggles and joys of the poeple that made our lives what they are in todays society. How many times I have heard a homophobic person say that homosexuality began in 1950s or 60s, an entirely ignorant view point that should be set straight. That is why we are here and why we have joined GLEE, to find yet another forum for visability and discussion. The Sheldon Institute is also working on the creation of a publishing house for books on the subject and a production company for feature films.
