personal message

well, first thing's first- i'm not asexual, I'm Queer, but that option was naturally unavailable.

loves:

activism.
queers.
aesthetics.
the south.
academics.
bicycles.
critical theory.
social change.
fashion.
interestng haircuts.
gender studies.
provocation.

here's a picture of me when i was on the equality ride. you should read about it here.

i am a grad student at the clinton school of public service. i have my undergrad in speech communication and gender studies. i could probably be a full-time student forever, as long as it allowed me to raise hell on street corners every once in a while. i most enjoy studying topics on social change, gender, and sexuality.  and my activism has led to me to a point of seeking to change the activists themselves, if that makes any sense.

i watch a lot of movies instead of doing important things. i also cuss like a sailor, especially in public, just to embarass my mother. i change my hair quite frequently, and i am a shoe collector. i'm a big fan of arkansas and the south and grassroots organizing in these parts. kourt is my other half.

i just saw your comment from the 7th right now. apparently i don't really know how to navigate this website very well. anyway, deconstructing? i try to do a little everyday. lately i've been listening to a lot of loveline on the radio while i'm at work, and that provides quite a bit to chew off.
completely off the subject, but i am so excited for winter solstice! longer days will be niiiiiice.

Amanda glows. It was the first thing I noticed about her. The glow is like coals on a fire--consistent, seemingly benign. But then she douses that glow with some event or human, some injustice against light or life, and--instead of going out--that glow rages in fiery passion and power. And it was hard to think of a rage that heals until I met Amanda. Others let their rage burn up themselves and those around them, but not Amanda. She glows and storms, and is at once the blazing arm that encircles the lost and alights the hopeless with hope.

As for me, you can blame me for how pedantic this is. Amanda's not pedantic, just straightforward.
