Greek court considers Lesbos vs lesbians case

ATHENS (Reuters Life!) - A Greek court is considering a request by residents of the Aegean island of Lesbos to ban use of the word lesbian as a term to describe gay women, a court official said on Wednesday.

Three Lesbos residents brought the case, arguing that the use of the term "lesbian" in reference to gay women insults their identity.

lol..am sorry but i cant help but laugh about this...cos who would have thought that someone would take a group or someone to court over the definition of a word-more over the L word? but this article reminds me of a couple years ago, when there was a dispute over the definition of the word YARDIE in a particular dictionary. for those who dont know the term yardie is generally used for natives of the island of Jamaica-which i am from. However, in the dictionary they defined it as basicly a gang...long story short the publishers have since change the meaning...n rightly so i think...like most labels it carries a lot of stigma..and it seems that most people are of the misconception that every Jamaican smokes weed, drink redstripe, n ends every sentence with "mon"...point is words are words and they are very powerful..so be careful wat u say....
