Tomas has been working almost non-stop since 1991. Beginning as an actor and choreographer, Tomas traveled the US in touring productions as well as performed Off-Broadway and Off-Off Broadway.
In 1996, Tomas began Tomasian Ent! as a vehicle to promote his musical, theatrical and choreographed endeavors. He traveled the US doing shows in clubs, at colleges and for corporations and developed a reputation as a diverse and multi-faceted artist.
Musically, Tomas has been compared to Prince as he writes, produces, and performs all his own music. By combining powerful pop vocals with a story telling lyrical style all served over infectious dance floor grooves, Tomas' music moves your body as well as your mind.
In 2001, he released getUP!, his first full-length CD. This collection of "socially conscious dance music was very well received. Tomas also embarked on a tour in support the project.
He returned in 2003 with getUP! Again - The Remixes, a follow-up to his 2001 release. The project included remixes and original versions of songs previously released on getUP!, plus two new tracks.
In 2005, Tomas took some time to choreograph a very well received original off-off-Broadway musical in NYC, Eve: The Story of EveryWoman (LMNO Theatre Co.). He also produced an instrumental project under the name Vie Sans Les Fleur entitled, Emagine: A World Without Flowers released by te! Music/Tomasian Ent! in Feb 2006.
In 2006, he returned to off-off Broadway himself with his one man show, Pages from the Journal. In addition to this, he also filmed two movies, the feature length, Loose Ends and the short, Always Keep.
In Mar 2007, te! Music/Tomasian Ent! released Rhythm for the Runway which features the track, "No Interest", by Tomas.
In August, Tomas released his new single. "Day We Lost Our Love" first single from his new CD, Well There It Is! is expected to be out by March 2008.
A letter from the President of Tomasian Entertainment
Though it is not the policy of Tomasian Entertainment to endorse any candidate, we do encourage all citizens to VOTE today regardless of political affiliation.
And though we will not endorse a candidate, we will make a stand on a very important issue. We at Tomasian Entertainment, LLC stand in solidarity with our LGBT family in CA in saying NO to Prop 8.
Amending a state constitution to deny the rights of a particular group of people scares me. I share this with you as to why I feel so strongly about this.
As a child a growing up in Albany, NY, my mother who grew up in Savannah, GA would take me to work with her. I was 4 or 5 so I never thought anything of it. I enjoyed playing at the back of the dry cleaning shop that my mother manged with the office supplies and helping her greet of customers as they came through the door. One day when I was 15, my mother and I laughed about those days and how all the customers said they missed me when I started going to elementary school.
She said to me, "That was a special time for me".
I asked her, "Why is that?"
She responded, "I was not allowed to visit my mother at work. She worked the counter at a white only restaurant."
I questioned, "A black woman working the counter at a white only restaurant? And you couldn't go there? That sounds crazy Mommy."
She smiled, "Yeah, it does now."
Let's progress not regress. Please remember that when you VOTE today.
In love, peace and pride,
Tomas Bell
