personal message

On the 11th annual National Day of Silence (April 18, 2007), I was faced with an unfortunate tragedy, being victim to a hate crime. Because of sporting a rainbow sticker on my VW Beetle, my car was vandalized in red spray paint with the words "fAg" and "u r gay" placed all over the hood and driver side of my car. Despite immediate shock and embarassment, I've decided to embrace what happened and keep driving my car as it is in order to bring more public awareness to the blatant homophobia that exists in our society.

My mission is to drive my fagbug on a cross country trip and take it to as many diverse communities as possible. I will be gathering feedback for my fagbug documentary which will teach us about the intolerance that exists in our society. My ultimate goal is to get at least 1 million people to add fagbug rainbow stickers to their cars so that no one else will be targeted the way I was again. Until that happens, my car will stay as is!

This morning Liz and I were in talking in the bedroom and someone knocked on the door and she got up and the guy at the door asked her if Tony was there repeatedly and she was stern and told him no and to go away. She never opened the door. She did however tell me to lock the door when she left today because she had a feeling something bad might happen.

After that I ran to the post office and came back.

From there, Liz and I were talking for awhile longer before she went to... (continue reading)

Day 166: Fagbug Goes Through Emails

Posted October 03rd, 2007 at 08:08pm

Today I went to the bank which the nearest trustco is an hour away and after I went to get gas and had a man ask me "someone spray painted your car" and "what it won't come off" and me saying "yes" and "yes it will I'm just keeping it like that" and having him look at me and say, "oh ok." After when I went to leave he waved across the gas station to me and said goodbye and as I drove away, he looked back to see the full view of what my car... (continue reading)

Day 167: Fagbug Goes Through Emails Day 2

Posted October 03rd, 2007 at 08:07pm

I'm taking a break from blogging to catch up on the blogs from my trip so stay tuned.

Here are a couple of emails I stumbled upon that I found interesting.

Erin,

Just today I learned of your story, through feministing.com, and wanted to write to you. You may add this bi, pagan Bug owner to your growing list of supporters. :) I've actually removed stickers from my car, as I live in a rural area outside the metro area, but now I'm starting to feel inclined to put them back...
