personal message

Hello, there. =)
I'm Kelly, but you can call me Lee if you want.
Below is a bit of what I am/like/dislike.

Panromantic, artist, androgyne,
vegetarian, pacifist, I dream of world peace, if I had a million dollars - I'd donate it, I like to help people, I'm a lover of literature, animals, art, design, movies, music, the outdoors, museums, color, peace, tolerance, open-mindedness, traveling, observing, whimsy, honesty, ideation, dictionaries, "intelligent" conversation, debates, cold weather, video games, history and sciences. I'm not super social, as in I prefer being around just one or a few people at a time. I actually listen to people when they speak, and really do care if how things are going with you when I ask.

I dislike: those too busy, caught up in things that don't matter, those who take the world for granted, those who don't take time to think about the bigger picture; violence, ignorance, and intolerance.

I'd love to meet someone who'll go on long walks with me. Someone who's not too busy with "work" that they can't just hang out whenever, have a cup of tea and just sit there with me. No words need to be said. We can just be content sitting together without saying a thing, looking out at the scene in front of us.

I'm always up for playing pool or doodling on Yahoo IM or just random chatting (I can also talk to those on MSN on that):
etre_creatif@yahoo.com

Or you can talk to me on AIM as well:

we're always teetering on the edge of greatness or the mundane.
i think you are someone who recognizes that and is not afraid to leap upwards...
for that and for those eyes, you are bloody exceptional.
hi...

Hey doll, it's all good :) I've been busy as well.

My birthday started off crappy, because my mom made sure that I spent at least 3 hours of it crying.

But my friends rescued it from being a total disaster.

how have you been lately?

There wasn't anything exciting planned for this weekend. I worked Thanksgiving through yesterday, so it was just another day. All my family is in Texas anyway, and I have no way to go see them.

I'm hoping that this coming up weekend rocks my face off because it's my birthday and I think I deserve some fun for once

Oh well then that's good to know that you're not one of those crazy PETA people. They scare me. And they're pretty hypocritical. However, I will give them credit for helping me save this lizard that my mom so meanly decided to trap in a glue trap just because she was too afraid to try to catch the thing. I had tried to catch it but I couldn't find it and she just kinda layed out a glue trap without asking me. I was pretty mad about it, but I'm glad that I swallowed my pride and called PETA for help. haha. They made it sound like it was some sort of big ordeal too. saying stuff like "Now remember! It's not going to hurt you!" even after I explained to them that I wasn't afraid of it, I was just afraid of hurting it. And when I got it off, they acted like I'd just disarmed a bomb that was going to blow up 10,000 babies. haha.

And it is true that a vegetarian diet is a lot healthier than one with meat. We studied food chains and webs and stuff like that in Environmental Science and learned that the most energy comes from plants, and that when you eat the animals that eat the plants you're only getting something like 10% of what you could be getting because the animal has already absorbed all of that nutrition. It was really interesting. I loved that class.

Personally, I eat meat, but I think that factory farming should be done away with. If all of the meat that we ate was naturally farmed (handfed, allowed to graze fields, etc.), then it would be a lot healthier for us, less cruel to the animals, and a lot better on the environment. It would save A LOT of water, they wouldn't have to pump the animals full of chemicals and antibiotics just to make sure that the animals don't contract illness from being closed up in such disgusting and tight "living" conditions. 8 year olds wouldn't be having menstrual cycles because of the crap that's in all of that.

The same goes for vegetables too, though. Just on a slightly lesser scale.

The only problem with that is that there's such a high demand for meat in society that it's pretty much impossible to do because it's very time consuming and they wouldn't be able to make massive quantities of it. That, and most people don't want to pay out the wazoo for organic vegetables/hand fed and raised meat.

Oh my, I have typed ENTIRELY too much sorry about that =/ I have this really bad habit of making long responses and the like. Just kick me sometime alright? lol.

Yeah the chemicals definitely dry out my skin as well. We have guys in the class running around asking for lotion. Haha. I've never witnessed that before. usually guys are all "Lotion? PLEASE, that's for the wimminz" haha.

So you're vegetarian, so that means that you sometimes do use things that were made from animals, or no? Do you try no to have anything to do with people who eat meat and/or use things that were made from animals?

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. School, work, and home have been pretty hectic lately.

Yeah that's what I thought too, so many mediocre books are out right now. If I can get an editor and pitch my book to some publishers I'm sure it would be published.

It's getting pretty cold here in So Cal. We've had some cloudy days, may get a little rain, which we need badly! BTW posted a new blog :) I'm so happy people read them.

It was 12 hours because I was behind on some of my work, so I had to attend open lab, in addition to my regularly scheduled lab time. The people in my class are pretty smart. I'm actually more looking forward to the digital part of it all because the chemicals hurt my nose and lungs, and cause me to break out into weird brown patchy things on my hands. It's pretty gross. Not to mention the chemicals kind of burn my skin a bit. But we have to go through Black and White darkroom theory before we get to digital. They feel like it'll make us better photographers because you can't go back and change the film part, that way we get better at getting it right the first time...I think it makes sense, but it's a pain.

Help me out with some confusion here.... so you're vegetarian...I thought that vegetarians just didn't EAT meat, and Vegans were the ones who were anti everything that is animal bi-product?

Not that I'm hatin' or anything, I'm just confused.
