Here's the story about my trip to New Orleans, and generally SF bartending.

Sunday means Ikea

Posted July 01st, 2007 at 07:06pm

The futun couch frame that I've had for the past 7 or 8 years finally collapsed and I wasn't able to fix it. It was a strong old thing, but it's time to put it out to pasture and get something new. Thus, I'm going on a scouting mission to Ikea today. I don't really want any more Ikea furniture, but alas, it's the plight of the poor.

personal message

Hi and stuff!

I'm a freelance writer living in San Francisco. I specialize in writing about cocktails and bars. I've written for the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco Magazine, Out, Instinct, Frontiers, Imbibe, Stuff, and a bunch of other places. I wrote a book called Party Like a Rock Star: Even When You're Poor As Dirt. It's awesome.

Before I got into cocktail writing I worked doing brain imaging research, then as a software engineer at a dot-com. But now mostly I track trends in booze. I created two GLEE groups to talk about it- one for beer and wine and another for cocktails. So join up!

I love going out to bars and talking with people, mostly because I'm home alone working far too much. I am sometimes a big runner, though in the last couple of monhts I've barely even run to catch a bus. I had better change that soon, as I'm getting my chunk on. I love finding new music and going to shows, though I definitely prefer the smaller venues to the arenas.

My television doesn't work but does still play DVDs, so I watch a lot of Netflix videos and no TV at all. That said, the first three seasons of Baywatch are out on DVD so I'm always playing along screaming, "Breathe, Damnit!" at the screen.

And yes, fellas, I'm single and lookin' for love. I like nerds.
