personal messageI'm learning more each day about what it means to learn from the past, live for love, and look toward the brighter future. I will always speak my mind honestly. I will always be there and do my best whenever I am needed. I am dedicated, forthright, selfless, and determined. I think, speak, live, and love differently from most people. I am neither ashamed nor proud. I'm just me, because that's all there is. If you truly know me, you already know how much I love Theatre. You probably already know that I like to write on my hands with Sharpie pens, I speak French, I have a passion for my heritage, my music tastes range from swing/big band to indie to classic to alternative rock, I go out of my way to step on those crunchy leaves, I never miss a chance to splash around in the rain, I love Star Trek (Janeway RULES!), I want to give myself a professional stage name, I am hoping to study in London as soon as I graduate, I have 15 distinct characters living inside me, I write and blog often, and that I love musicals more than anyone probably should. I made the following video montage, a tribute to the life and death of Martha Dobie from Lillian Hellman's "The Children's Hour." Directed by Billy Wyler in 1961. Hellman said it was about a lie---we know it's about much more than that. Thank you for teaching us to reach out, even indirectly. Sleep now, Martha, until it is safe to wake you. No copyright infringement intended. I only created the vid, I own nothing. World Trade Center Piano Theme by Craig Armstrong.

lifesavers [mean love]
Haha ! I saw her again this morning...we had another fabulous discussion. Honestly, and I told her this, talking to her is like talking to a 37-yr-old version of myself, and she pretty much agreed. We just...have so much in common. Everything I brought up, she responded the way I expected her to respond. I'd say something and then I'd hear my own thoughts bounce back at me. It's kind of a cool thing, you know ? So as she was giving me advice, I was... The door was locked. The lights were on. I knocked and she answered almost immediately. I warmly greeted her and vice-versa. We shared some witty, comical banter. And then it took me a few minutes to start because, and I told her this, I was so unaccustomed to feeling like I could just open up about personal matters... confessions of a [compulsive leaf-cruncher] These things don't happen to people like me...or at least that's what I told myself.... And then..it happened. I was out for a walk the other day, minding my own, rocking out to Brian Setzer's "Jump, Jive 'N Wail." Business as usual. There was a cool breeze blowing. Storm's coming, I thought to myself. Nothing out of the ordinary. After all, this is California. Pouring rain one day, scorching heat the... (continue reading) my gifts |
