I
couldn't resist joining GLEE.com because I have some friends who
are members, including one who helped to start the whole thing. A
little about myself: I'm a free-lance automotive journalist and PR
consultant. Cars have been the glue that has held my career
together. I have always had an interest in cars, and have owned
some interesting ones: including my first, a 1969 Mustang Mach 1.
It was a bright red with a 4-speed and got me more than a few
speeding tickets when I was growing up in Summit County, Colorado.
My cars change frequently, but one that stays with me is a 1977
Pontiac Grand Prix SJ, in triple black with 30,000 original miles.
It's almost all original, but I did have to put in an XM radio with
the first preset tuned to the '70s channel. It's rock-solid
reliable and fun to drive. Plus it's fun to see people's reaction
to it -- plenty of smiles and thumbs-up.
I've worked for a number
of publications, including the Stars & Stripes newspaper,
European Edition, when I lived in Germany for six years in the
'80s. I was never in the military myself, but grew up in an Air
Force family (my Dad was a 20-year career officer/pilot). I also
worked for AUTO Magazine, still published for US & NATO troops
in Europe, AAA AutoTest, and worked PR for Saab and GM. I was also
auto show manager for Saab, which was a fun and rewarding job. I

I
live in San Diego with my partner Tim, who has a '72 Cadillac Coupe
deVille in St. Moritz Blue with white top and white leather
interior -- appropriately nautical, considering what a land yacht
it is. We're both impressed with the new Cadillacs, but we're also
fans of most German cars. I've owned 2 BMW 6-Series ('77 &
'82), a '72 Porsche 911 and a '00 Mercedes CLK430 Coupe. Loved each
one for different qualities.
