Here goes - some background information about TexBear. I was born in Rantoul, Illinois at the former Chanute Air Force Base in 1968. My dad was studying to be a Lutheran pastor at the time, having retired from the Air Force after 20 years. I moved around every 2-3 years as a kid: Illinois, Montana, Illinois, Texas (near Lubbock, near Houston), Nebraska, Texas, California, and back to Texas (near Waco and then Austin). I went to three (3) high schools before going to Concordia Lutheran College, now called Concordia University Texas. I studied to become a minister, but realizing I'm gay ended that career path. I had studied communications, but that wasn't very applicable in the workplace. I went on, in 1994, to attend St. Edward's University where I got a Master's degree in Human Services Administration (effectively, a non-profit MBA). Unfortunately, Austin is lousy with social service agencies and job candidates. I finally found my calling in accounting work. I love working with numbers and understanding how business (as well as personal) finance works. Some of my accomplishments in the last few years include: going on a Caribbean cruise, buying my first new car (a Scion xB), moving to Wells Branch MUD and away from a troublesome place in SE Austin, and finding solid, long-term work at CSC. I'm glad I found GLEE! The people here are great and I enjoy reading and talking with others of my persuasion.
