jessica betts: Quite a few music A-listers have tapped their foot
and nodded their heads to the vocal sounds of Ms. Jessica Betts.
After creating a strong buzz in the industry, the young
R&B/gospel/hip-hop influenced singer recently shot the video
for her first single in her hometown of Chicago "shy town", IL.
Today, with a new distribution deal with her label Grand Qrue
Entertainment /SONY Red SONY, under her young belt, she's ready to
release her first single, "WHY ME?" Jessica, a former "All
American" high school basket ball player with nine universities
jockeying for her recruitment, decided to take her amazing skills
to the "music courts" where she created another stir. This time
with record companies; at eighteen she was signed to the Boys II
Men's label Stone Creek/Epic and then rapper Warren G's label,
Restless/G Funk. She worked with inimitable talent like Kelly
Price, Deborah Cox & Chucky Thompson, among others. She also
worked on movie soundtracks includingMartin Lawrence's Big Mama's
House; Sara Michelle Gellar's Simply Irresistible, and Ja Rule's
Turn It Up; A little home sick for grandma's cooking, mother
wit,and the down-to-earth, no neon lights reassurance of family
& friends, Jessica returned home to Shy Town from Los
Angeles,CA and soon heard about Missy Elliot's Road toStardom.
Jessica checked it out and decided to compete against thirteen
other artists from across the country. The stellar panel of judges
included music moguls and legends such as Jermaine Dupri, Teena
Marie, Madonna, Dallas Austin, MonaScott and, of course, Ms. Missy
Elliot. After 10 weeks of competition,Ms Jessica Betts was singing
to the winner's tune of a $100,000, and a soon-to-be released
