Welcome!

Below are some quotes. I think they will tell you a lot about me and what I believe.

"The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who, in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality" - Dante

"When God created the first human beings, God led them around the garden of Eden and said: Look at my works! See how beautiful they are, how excellent! For your sake I created them all. Take care not to spoil or destroy My world, for if you do, there will be no one to repair it after you." - Midrash Ecclesiastes Rabbah 7:13

"That which is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow. That is the whole Torah; the rest is the explanation; go and learn." - Hillel ( Babylonian Talmud, Shabbat 31a)

"Just as God clothes the naked... so must you clothe the naked. The Holy Blessed One visits the sick... so you must also visit the sick. The Holy Blessed One comforts mourners... so must you comfort mourners. The Holy Blessed One buries the dead... so must you bury the dead." - Babylonian Talmud, Sotah 14a

The Lord is my Shepherd and he knows I'm gay." - Rev. Troy Perry

"When I die and come before the heavenly court, if they ask me, 'Zusha, why were you not as great as Abraham?' I will not be afraid. I will say that I was not born with Abraham's intellectual capabilities. And if they ask me, 'Zusha, why were you not Moses?' I will say that I did not have Moses' leadership abilities. But when they ask me, 'Zusha, why were you not Zusha?' for that I will have no answer." - Hasidic Rebbe Zusha

"The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." - President Franklin D. Roosevelt

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. This is not a way of life at all in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron." - President Dwight D. Eisenhower

The public photos are political statements from various sources. As I write this, people are dying in Iraq, and it seems only appropriate that I say something. The public photos (below) are part of my effort to do that.

I am an amateur photographer. Photos I have taken are in the photos for friends section (and are not visible below). If you are a friend, please take a look. I hold the copyright to all these photos and they are not to be copied or downloaded without my permission.

I am so glad you stopped by. I hope you enjoy your visit.

More Cowards

Posted July 10th, 2008 at 01:37am

Today, on the floor of the United States Senate, treason was committed. Today, the United States Senate voted to spit on the US Constitution and desecrate the graves of every patriotic American including this country's founding fathers. Today, the following US Senators voted to spy on every loyal American, to listen to every one of your phone conversations and read every one of your emails. Today, the following US Senators committed treason: Alexander (R-TN) Allard (R-CO) Barrasso (R-WY)... (continue reading)

Cowards

Posted June 20th, 2008 at 09:56pm

Once again, the Democrat controlled House of Representatives have sold out our freedoms, our Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and desecrated the memories of out founding fathers, and desecrated the graves of every brave patriot who fought for and died defending the freedoms our founding fathers gave us.

Since the current regime took office, we have endured eight years of impeachable offenses, eight years of treason, eight year of betrayal of the very liberties and system of... (continue reading)

Pearls of Gay Wisdom

A friend sent me an email and I thought I should share it:

PEARLS OF GAY WISDOM
If homosexuality is a disease, let's all call in sick to work: "Hello. Can't work today, still queer." ~ Robin Tyler

I'd rather be black than gay because when you're black you don't have to tell your mother. ~ Charles Pierce

"Dear Abby," In response to a reader who complained that a gay couple was moving in across the street and wanted to know what... (continue reading)

Michael Tolliver Lives

It has been ages since I sat down and read a book. It is usually all I can do to keep up with my email and professional reading. I am reading novels for a change.

During Pride in Asbury Park, I stopped at the Ocean County Library System table. My library in Bergen County does not observe anything, not LGBTI Pride, not Banned Books Week, not anything. I am... (continue reading)

HAVE YOU NO SENSE OF DECENCY?

Posted November 09th, 2007 at 10:51am

On June 9, 1954, as Senator McCarthy engaged in his reign of terror, Joseph Welch asked the Senator during the Army-McCarthy hearings "Have you no sense of decency ?".

We have a President who asked for and a Congress that voted to imprison people without trial in violation of the Constitution our founding fathers gave us. I ask these leaders, have you no sense of decency?

We have a government that reads its citizens email and monitors its citizens telephone calls... (continue reading)

Has Anyone Learned Anything From Enron?

Posted November 09th, 2007 at 10:38am

As I read recent articles in the accounting and business news, I am forced to ask the question, has anyone learned anything from Enron?

I ask this because the business community that committed massive investment fraud is hell bent on gutting the one law to come out of this massive mess of scandal, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX). Their efforts to undermine this law are actively and vocally supported by the Bush administration and Congress.

I ask this because Accounting Today... (continue reading)
